Wrist rest

Keyboard Wrist Rest

When you spend long hours in front of a keyboard, it’s essential to think about your comfort. A well-chosen wrist rest is not just a simple accessory: it’s an essential support to relieve your wrists, improve your posture, and prevent work-related pain.

Why use a wrist rest?

Reduced fatigue

Typing on a keyboard for several hours at a time can cause tension in the forearms, arms, or wrists. Thanks to an ergonomic wrist rest, this pressure is distributed more evenly. The result: less fatigue, even at the end of the day.

Improved posture

A well-positioned keyboard wrist rest helps keep your wrists straight, which limits unnecessary movement and reduces the risk of pain. This simple accessory can turn your desk into a more ergonomic space, suited to your body shape.

Injury prevention

Regular use of a wrist support helps prevent musculoskeletal disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome. This type of injury often occurs because of a prolonged improper position at the keyboard or mouse. The support provided by a good wrist rest helps reduce these risks.

How can you prevent wrist pain while working at a keyboard?

The first thing to do is choose a wrist rest that fits the size of your keyboard. Go for a model with a soft surface, in gel or memory foam, that naturally conforms to the wrist. Several brands offer well-designed products, often in faux leather or fabric, for comfortable and long-lasting use.

Next, make sure your forearms are parallel to the floor and your wrists are in line with your arms. An ergonomic wrist rest with a slightly curved shape helps maintain this proper alignment.

What is the best wrist position for a keyboard?

The ideal position is neutral: the wrist should stay straight, neither too raised nor too bent. Your keyboard should not be too high relative to your seating position. A wrist rest with a non-slip base helps maintain this position effortlessly. Some models are even compatible with an ergonomic mouse, for complete support.
