Ghost, the must-have heavy metal band

The Swedish heavy metal Ghost band is from the city of Linköping and was formed in 2006 by Tobias Forge. This unique pop metal band draws its style from a multitude of genres: progressive metal, glam metal, hard rock, and pop rock — an explosive mix that has won over millions of fans around the world.

Who is Papa Emeritus?

Since the release of their first EP, Ghost has released numerous albums before anyone knew exactly who was hiding behind the mask of Papa Emeritus. The reveal took place in 2017, following a lawsuit filed in Sweden by former band members. It then became publicly known that the singer, founder, and main songwriter of Ghost was Tobias Forge.

What is Ghost's discography?

Promising beginnings: Ghost's discography consists of studio albums, a live album, numerous EPs, and music videos that perfectly illustrate the band's captivating universe. The journey began with a first album, Opus Eponymous, on Rise Above Records in October 2010, featuring standout tracks like Elisabeth and Ritual.

In January 2013, Papa Emeritus II made his appearance and Ghost released their second album, Infestissumam, with now-legendary tracks like Year Zero and Zombie Queen. The third album, Meliora, with Papa Emeritus III, confirms the band's full potential with the singles Cirice and From the Pinnacle to the Pit.

Headliners: in June 2018, Ghost reached a new milestone with their fourth album, Prequelle, introduced by the singles Rats and Dance Macabre, and the appearance of a new character: Cardinal Copia. On March 11, 2022, the band unveiled their fifth studio album, Impera, with singles like Hunter's Moon, Call Me Little Sunshine, and Twenties — cementing their place among international headliners.

After Impera, Ghost continued their trajectory with Skeletá, their sixth album. This record marks a turning point with the introduction of a new central character, Papa V Perpetua — more intimate and vulnerable than his predecessors — giving the whole album a melancholic and introspective tone. At the end of 2026, worn out by relentless touring, the band announced a well-deserved break.

What is the most famous song by Ghost?

There are so many hits that listing the best songs is an impossible mission. Nevertheless, a few tracks are essential: If You Have a Ghost, Deus in Absentia, Ritual, He Is, Majesty, Zombie Queen, Year Zero, Mummy Dust, Cirice… and so many others that it would be impossible to list them all here.

Ghost merch: fan essentials

Merchandising is an important source of revenue for rock bands. The end of record sales has forced bands to rethink their business model. Merchandise has become essential:

Apparel: T-shirts, sweatshirts, socks — the perfect ways to proudly show your place in the great metal family.

Goodies: the must-have mug, keychain, and costume jewelry — bracelets, pins, piercings.

Limited edition records: for collectors and ultimate fans looking for a rare item or an unreleased song.
